Need a manual for babylock companion 2150. Mine is skipping stitches on certain materials.

If the problem is consistent with certain types of fabric, it is usually the needle choice. Make sure the needle size and type is compatible with the fabric and thread you are using. There are several different types of needles (leather, ball-point for knits, sharps for wovens, etc)

Schmetz all about needles Google Search

How do i lengthen th stitch (lost book)

What machine is it. There are two dials tension and stitch length. Call company. But usually length is dial to far right. Tension is on the left.

What is causing the stitching to gather and break underneath?

It certainly sounds like the tension. Check with the manufacturer, as they will help you and tell you how to replace the manual.

After selecting a zig zag stitch or any other stitch and following the settings in the manual, I only get a straight stitch.

If your machine has a dial to adjust the stitch width, then make sure you are also turning this to the right setting so the needle "swings" as part of the stitch formation. However, if you are certain you have it set correctly, then other possibility is the needle bar bearings have siezed up or there is a spring inside the same area that pulls the needle back to centre, maybe its broken or come off. Either way you need to get inside the find out the answer; if you are not experienced in pulling apart a sewing machine, then I'd suggest its time for a trip to the SM technician for a service.

My Grandma just gave me her machine, but lost the manual. What is the normal setting for the tension ?

Depends on the machine.
Most machines average setting is 4, at least that is what most of mine start out with. If it is an old machine that has been used then the setting could be more. The best way to find out it trial and error. Take a light tread for the top and a dark thread for the bobbin. Sew on a doubled over piece of cotton first. Set the tension at 1 and run a stitch. Look at it. The threads need to meet at the center of the fabric. If you have more dark light thread on the bottom and the dark thread is almost a straight line then your tenison is to loose. Try the next setting and look at it again after sewing about five inches. Not meeting, try again. You will find the right setting for your machine with you see even stitches on both sides of the fabric. Hope this helps.

I got a 1950 sewing machine set in a table with a knee control for the pedal. The light comes on, but I am not sure how to make the knee pedal work. There is a lever and I have moved it, but nothing...

Have you tried getting a copy of the owners manual? You can usually download one for $10 at www.sewingmanuals.com or go through Sears. I remember having a machine with a knee control and it seems to me that you only had to pick your stitch length and press the knee control to make it sew. Mine was a straight stitch only Singer. Do some research online with your model number, google it and see what you find. Good luck

Husqvarna Prisma 980 decorative stitch cassettes don't work

Hi,
On that machine, the cassettes aren't actually computer chips. Each cassette has a little spot of white on a certain little area you must find (top right I'm pretty sure). Look in the machine at that point. There is a sensor that looks for that white spot, and as it identifies it, it changes stitches according to that cassette. Either the sensor is blocked, gone bad, or you can put a fresh coat of white paint on with white out. I hope this helps.

Shark 384 - how can i get a straight stitch?

with the Shark Euro-Pro X machine, you need to bring the stitch width to zero it's the nob on top of the machine the manual states not to use it wider then 3 with the double needle cause it can break the needle. but either stitch selection "A" or "S" will give straight stitching with width at zero.
