There are a number of methods that can be used to bypass or reset the BIOS password, like

  • Using a manufacturers backdoor password to access the BIOS
  • Use password cracking software
  • Reset the CMOS using the jumpers or solder beads.
  • Removing the CMOS battery for at least 10 minutes

White Tiger I don't think you understood the question it's the CMOS password the writer is asking about. This has nothing to do with going into the user account. The Inspiron 1100 doesn't have a removable CMOS battery. Dell's flaw I suppose. They require you to have to call in to their Service Center which is useless unless you have the owner's name in fact (on the Dell file) or Dell will REFUSE to supply you the backdoor CMOS password.....LJ

Reset bios

BIOS passwords can be reset or removed in two ways:

1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting or removing using software, here are two software apps to reset or retrieve BIOS passwords.

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.
You can download it here:
http://www.syschat.com/download120.html&act=down

CmosPwd - Cmos password recovery tools
http://majorgeeks.com/CmosPwd_d239.html

You will need to create a bootable Dos, or Linux or NT cd in order to run them..

Good Luck!

Where is the CMOS bsttery on my dell inspiration 1100 labtop

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. There are very useful utilities CD and it a Linux boot CD which contains quite a lot of Utility programs including a password removal program. Click on one of these links to download HIREN'S BOOTCD :- http://www.hirensbootcd.net/ http://67.20.82.163/

My dell inspiron 1100 keep say need password authentication system. cant access the data on the computer without the correct password... primary or admin i dont have either...

Take out the HD and ask a friend to look for "Password Remover" DL it. Connect the HD via USB cable and run the software, when asked what you want to do with it, click Remove password. But if is it's in the BIOS, take it to a repaire shop or remove the BIOS battery for 24 hrs, this somethings works.

Contact Dell tech support 800-624-9896 (USA) confirm you are an authorized user of the system and they will assist with generating a master password, There is no universal password or jumper to manually reset it, you have to contact Dell.
