SF114PXSBO Whirlpool Gas Oven won't heat

Our oven just stopped working. I used the oven Thursday and then tried to use it today (SAT) and it appears that it is pre-heating, but does not heat at all. Everything else seems to work. The range is igniting just fine - so I know it is getting gas. A workable solution would be appreciated.

    Dawnn,

Thanks- I will try that and let you know how it goes. I appreciate you! :D

    Blessings,

That seems to have fixed the problem, except when we turn off the oven the gas still hisses for a few seconds. Is this because we are not letting it preheat all the way, or did we do something wrong?

    Thank you,

    Melissa

We are having a similar problem with our oven, we turned it on to pre-heat and didn't notice a problem until the timmer went off and then we realized it had not heated up at all. We've tried a few times now and it doesn't even sound like the oven is even igniting...help!

Jenn air gas oven won't light off/heat up

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. you have a electric oven or a gas oven that won't heat or doesn't heat properly, here are some things you will need to check. The most likely cause of a oven not heating correctly is a defective heating element. You have two types of heating elements in your oven. The bottom element(s) are the baking elements. The element(s) on the top are the broil elements. If you don't see the bright red glow from the element, chances are they are not working or not working correctly. If a heating element is bad, you need to replace the entire element. If your oven is warm and not correctly hot, one of the elements may be bad. In most ovens, when you preheat, both elements are used. This would make the oven to appear like it is working correctly but it is not. If the elements are not working, they might not be getting power. Test the wires to the elements with a voltage meter to make sure they are getting power before you decide to change them out. Many electrical ovens have a sensor that monitors the oven temperture. Ovens that have this sensor usually contain a digital display on the oven. The sensor could be defective. Those without the sensor use the basic mechanical system to control the oven temperature. You also want to check the thermostat sensing bulb. Make sure the bulb is good and has not come loose. Now, if you have a gas range oven that doesn't heat properly, first, you want to check your bake igniter. It may have burned out or it could be not working properly. It will be located near your burner. It is also possible that you are not getting gas to the burner. If so, it may be the gas safety valve or the igniter. You need to check your selector switch and thermostat as well. They may be defective. Always make sure you test the parts for power with a voltage meter of some type before you decide to change the part. If you have a part that appears to not be working, it may not be getting power because of a bad wire or broken connection.

My 3 year old barely used Whirlpool Gas Oven has stopped heating. The gas stove top still works. Whirlpool customer service told me to clean out the gas chamber with a pin...there's nothing TO cleanout....

Just had a repairman here today March 31, 2010 for the same problem. $350 repair bill. There was a short in the gas valve that cause it to go bad and it also blew out the ignitaion computer board. Forget about replacing the ignitor. I already did and that was not the problem. So the qauestion for you is pay for the repair or buy a new stove.

The oven will not light on my Whirlpool gas oven Mod SF368LEPQ 2. The stove top burners still light.

Sounds like you need an bake element ignitor if the bake doesn't work but if the broil also doesn't work, it could be the electronic clock/timer control. the part number for the bake ignitor is 8054129 .Best off to call a reliable service company such as Sears.

Whirlpool Accubake Super Capacity 465 gas range. Oven won't light

Some gas ranges may take 10 or so minutes to light.
Other than that you may have a defective glow bar ignitor.
If it glows and does not light the reistance in the ignitior has failed.

Oven does not heat. Broiler and stove work. NO gas smell.

could be the oven thermostat, get a plumber/heating engineer out, but make sure you can trust him, cause he could try and say u need a new cooker when it MIGHT only be a new oven thermostat.

Kenmore gas oven won't heat up

If your ignitor is coming on that means the oven control is supplying the power to the ignitor and gas valve. So the gas valve is ok because it is allowing for a complete circuit so what the heck is wrong? The ignitor MUST draw 3.5 amps in order to open the gas safety and allow the gas to come out. The ignitor must be very bright, if it is dim then it is bad. (MORE)

Re: my whirlpool digital oven

The red key sign is a lock against children. To cancel it you have to hold the two buttons at the same time for 5 seconds (you activate it the same way).

The STOP sign appears after the cooker switches of after a power cut. You just have to press the left button, and, using the right knob, set the time.
