Paper jammed at exit rollers of Canon D860. Paper torn off so cannot get out of the rollers. Rollers too tight to release paper. Any suggestions on how to release paper jam?
If you remove the plastic covers on that side of the printer, you will see a small screw holding a bar against the rollers. Set the printer on end so you can remove this screw with out dropping it into the printer, and then the rollers will be loose enough that you can get the paper out.
You can download the repair manual for a similiar Canon printer, the iR1200-1500, on Ebay for $ 3.00 to $ 5.00 and this will tell you how to take apart the printer. I had the same problem and the manual allowed me to remove the fuser assembly and clear the jam. If you prefer, Canon sells the Image Class D860/880 repair manual for you printer for $54 plus shipping. The Ebay dealer also included the parts maunal, which is a sepatate charge from Canon.
