Error 6500 on a Canon MP500

I have a Canon MP500. What is error 6500 and how do I fix it? I was printing a number of sheets when I ran out of paper. I reloaded the paper and the priner began flashing between the Copy Light and the amber Alarm light. The screen said error 6500 and the poser is off to the printer tanks and carriage.

SOURCE: Error 6500 on a Canon MP500

Hello there
Just in case it a bit of papper or other in there try.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Also clean The purge unit, called a spittoon assembly in an HP, Lexmark, Caonon and other inkjet printers, is where the print head assembly parks when not in use, also its other job is to clean and make sure the print head is clean and open for printing.

That is where you'll find the print head assembly parked on top of it.
It also has an electrical pump to milk the print heads and test for ink flow.

So clean all under where the heads are parked and on IP6600D models you can take out the heads just by clipping them out, and then clean well.

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Canon pixma all in one mp500 error code 6A00

6A00 is a problem with the sheet feed unit.
Manually move the print head left and right, and turn the printer on/off. I would also inspect the rollers for ANY debris... it can often be fixed by using "canned air" and blowing the interior out completely.

Error code says 5c00 on my canon pixma mp500 printer. cant find my manual to figure out what the code means

The error code 5c00 usually means that there is a paper jam or paper path restriction.
If the path is not restricted, the printer will need servicing.
If you want a downloadable user manual for your printer go to

Cannon pixma mp500 code error 6500

The error code of 6500 is a PCI bus error and this is a Service Error Code. Typically this is an internal error of one of the ASIC chips on the logic board and can only be repaired by replacing the logic board at the Canon Service Center.

Sorry fro the bad news!

Error 6A00

The 6A00 is a Canon generic code for paper path jam.

Solution 1:
Move the printhead carriage back and forth a few times.

Solution 2:
Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Solution 3:
Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.
