I dropped my macbook pro. No external damage but it won't turn on. It will charge.

Close the lid, attach an external monitor, reopen lid.
Your display should now show on that monitr. If it is, your display on the MacBook Pro may be bad. I would try resetting the PRAM and the SMC before going to an Apple store. The SMC controls the MacBook's power founcts (see below)

Very difficult to tell what could have go wrong. Could be a connector, could be a chip. Even a flatcable or a motherboard can be dammaged. Online you can get service manuals and there are video's about how to open and close Macbooks. Still I do have to advice not to open a laptop, if you don't have any skills in repairing electronic equipment.

The screen, the cable that connects to the screen or something internal has taken a hit. You'll need to get it serviced to find out which. Sorry, but there's not much diagnosis we can do from a distance.

You most likely have a damaged hard drive. I am afraid to tell you that you can either get it serviced, or you can get a new computer all together. Your hard drive sounds like it is beyond use at this point, and it is a pain to get it fixed/replaced. Try buying a newer model of MacBook Pro, they are said to be more durable now. If you go through with getting a new computer, you can also get a protective case for it by ordering one online. Hope this helps, I had my MacBook Po damaged also, so I share the grief.

I think the connection in Macbook is damaged, it's better to take it back to Apple and check, and if there is warranty is good too.
