If you type emerson TC2556D into the search bar on your browser, several options will come up. lloks like you can get a new remote for $9.95-$19.95 for that model.
Hello, It might be less costly to go to the Emerson web site, locate your model and check what remote control it answers to. Then buy the specific one.You can also go to a store that sells the particular model, take the refrences for the remote (model and Part number) and order it.
One thing though: It seems strange that a remote control made by Emerson, for a TV made by Emerson, cannnot, cannot activate an Emerson TV. Could it be a manipulation error? Just a thought.
Doesn't sound like there's any pattern on this shutdown??? I'd suspect poor solder connections first. Might look at R447 and R448 located in the right front corner of the PCB. They are both 2.7k/2w resistors that get quite hot during normal operation. This heat can cause ring cracking and thus the symptoms you're describing here.
Don't limit your search there. If you find either or both of these ring cracked take the time to inspect the rest of the board with great attention to detail in the higher thermal areas of the board.
I hate to tell you this but you cannot add channels without an original replacement remote, and that costs about 40 bucks here http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&smodel=TC2556D&brand_pn=EMERSON_TC2556D&mode=large&uid=11743431409220
This remote if you notice has an add, delete, and the auto buttons. A universal will not have these functions on it. Good Luck.
