Our Jandy Rayvac is around 5 years old...has been working fine. Recently it started going in circles and won't clean the entire pool just a circular pattern. Do you think I need to replace the swivels?

This heater wont start if the pressure switch is bad or clogged. Remove the pressure switch and clean it out really well, or just purchase a new one. It should only be $30-$50 depending on where you go to get it

Your backup valve has probally gone bad. You just need to pull this out of the line and take it to a pool store and have the internal replaced. They will do this for just the price of the part in most places.

Does the pilot light stay light? Or light then go back out? If it is doing that then it is the thermocoupler. looks like a wire that is in the flame of the pilot light. Other than the sparker. That is what dectects that there is fire in the pilot light before it starts the gas. Safety thing. So if that isnt detecting fire, then it will never let the gasvalve open up, Try taking some steel wool or real fine sandpaper and clean up that sensor. The wire. It builds up a thin film on it from gas burning.

it depends, if it's leaking due to a crack on a structural part of the filter such as the tank itself, then yes, the entire tank will need replaced.

You should be able to get your pool shop to rebuild this for you, usually just for the cost of parts. Then you should take it in to them once a year to be checked as prevention is worth more than cure. Good luck.

I had this problem with ours last year. I replaced the water pressure switch and it began working fine. We later had a symptom that the blower would start but it would not ignite. The ignitor rod was corroded so I took it out and sanded it with some sandpaper---worked fine...until I dropped it trying to reinstall and it broke. Bought a new one and it works fine now.

Today's problem is related to the blower now.... it is always something, isn't it?!?

yes you can replace the core but you should check all the other components to be sure the chlorine hasn,t destroyed them.
