Benq PE8700 - Won't Power Up

The projector was working one day & then it wouldn't.
I always had the unit left in stand-by mode.
Went to turn it on from the front and unit did not respond.
Tried the main power toggle switch nothing happened.
Changed Power Cord and outlet... no change.
Have pulled off casing, checked fuse with an ohm meter and have continuity. Have voltage into the unit.
Think I may have a bad power supply unit or circuit board.
Looking for factory trained Benq service center.

Same problem. Fuse is good, verified incoming 120VAC. No lights, unit is completely dead.

I have a PE8700+ with the same problem. Completely dead. Please let me know when you have a solution.

My PE8700 has just failed in the same fashion. I've bought it new in 2004, though. I needed a good excuse to upgrade. Next time I'll use a UPS.

Unit working fine for about 3 years. Had to remove from fixed install for painting and when I plugged it back in, completely dead. Very disappointed if this is in fact a common problem...

My Benq MP515st projector turns off almost immediately after it is turned on. After a few tries it doesn't even turn on. I understand it could be the power supply problem. How do I replace benq mp515 power supply and where can I get replacement parts? Thanks!!

Hi there

Trust me that the Mainboard needs replacement.

I am very familiar with the PE8700's as I am a ASP Technician for BenQ.

Visit www.BenQ.com and look for the link to your country - you should be able to allocate a Approved Service Provider.

Must warn you that the Mainboards on these models are quite expensive.

BenQ pe8700 projector ir sensor replace or repair

unless you dropped it, there is no damage to the sensor. it might just be dirty. blow the dust out of the projector with canned air. if there is physical damage, just replace it. if you're sure the remote works but none of the sensors do, it's a main board problem.

BENQ VA321 REMOTE CONTROL

Hi there

A universal remote would do the job , as long as you make sure that the Universal Remote can learn IR codes which it uses to control the Projector.

Lamp replacement

Hi there

Make 100% sure that your lampdoor is closed properly because there is a little swith on the lamp door that supplies the power to the mashine ( only when pushed in ) You'll see on the lamp door there is a pin that stands out - that pin pushed in the switch when the lampdoor is closed thus supplying power to rest of the components.

BenQ 8700

I had a similar problem with my Benq 8700+. The aspect ratio would show in the R low corner on changinbg resolutions, and would close down to a single line ("anamorphic" for example) which would remain on the screen. I checked the manual (useless) and went through all the set up screens (again useless). In despiration, I decided to try to unplug the projector and did so for 30 seconds to allow the charge to drain from the circuits powering the chips in the 8700+. Upon returning power and restarting, the screen resolution appears/disappears properly once again. Give thjis a try.
