The projector was working one day & then it wouldn't.
I always had the unit left in stand-by mode.
Went to turn it on from the front and unit did not respond.
Tried the main power toggle switch nothing happened.
Changed Power Cord and outlet... no change.
Have pulled off casing, checked fuse with an ohm meter and have continuity. Have voltage into the unit.
Think I may have a bad power supply unit or circuit board.
Looking for factory trained Benq service center.
Help!
Hi there
Trust me that the Mainboard needs replacement.
I am very familiar with the PE8700's as I am a ASP Technician for BenQ.
Visit www.BenQ.com and look for the link to your country - you should be able to allocate a Approved Service Provider.
Must warn you that the Mainboards on these models are quite expensive.

Same problem. Fuse is good, verified incoming 120VAC. No lights, unit is completely dead.
I have a PE8700+ with the same problem. Completely dead. Please let me know when you have a solution.
My PE8700 has just failed in the same fashion. I've bought it new in 2004, though. I needed a good excuse to upgrade. Next time I'll use a UPS.

Unit working fine for about 3 years. Had to remove from fixed install for painting and when I plugged it back in, completely dead. Very disappointed if this is in fact a common problem...
My Benq MP515st projector turns off almost immediately after it is turned on. After a few tries it doesn't even turn on. I understand it could be the power supply problem. How do I replace benq mp515 power supply and where can I get replacement parts? Thanks!!
