Singer 7422 bobbin thread bunching up

Hi,
I broke a needle while sewing and ever since I put a new replacement needle in, the bobbin thread bunches up around the bobbin holder after 1 or 2 stitches. Also there is a slight "clunking" sound when the top needle comes down. I think something is out of line. Is this something I can fix by myself? The replacement needle has been put in correctly with the flat side to the back. Thanks.

I assume you checked to see there are no needle bits in the bobbin case holder.
Without looking at the machine it is difficult to diagnose the problem. It could be any one or a combination of problems, timing, needle bar height, damage to the hook and base etc.
I strongly suggest you have it looked at by a sewing machine tech.

I have a Singer 2263 which is old but not used often. I am making aprons for Christmas, I made 3 and all the sudden the bobbin started bunching together. What can I do?

hi Sue.
Why does my bobbin thread keep bunching up? Check Your Tension Settings. Looping underneath the fabric usually occurs when there is not enough tension in the needle thread to pull the bobbin thread. Sometimes thread bunching can be caused by something as simple as the tension dial being inadvertently turned.

I have a new Singer 5532

Put in a new needle. Unthread the machine then rethread it being sure it is threaded correctly--especially through the tension control. Remove the bobbin and make sure it is wound correctly. Replace the bobbin and being certain that it is in the correct position. Check the manual if you are unsure how your machine is threaded or how to replace the needle.

Im using a singer 57815. Im having a problem with the thread bunching up at the underside of the fabric. Its not the bobbin thread that's binding but the top thread is bunching and getting stuck...

Hello

Reduce the thread tension to a lower number,Select a larger size needle,Remove and reinsert a new needle, flat side toward the back of the machine

Make sure you have the machine threaded for the bobbin and not threaded through the sewing path. Also, check to make sure that the bobbin is pushed directly against the post as far as possible.

Thread getting stuck in the bottom.

Mine is also doing this, but it has an auto tension and doesn't have those numbers on it. It is the 7422 Advance. I just bought this machine and have yet to be able to do anything with it. Very disappointed. Taking it back ASAP and never buying Singer again. Machine locks up for nothing, have to turn off and back on and it works, then the thread bunches up at bobbin and I have checked everything. And it was suppose to be able to accomodate a little bulk, (doing a quilted christmas stocking), however the fabric will not feed and it just starts to bunch up. Good luck
