2GB Micro SD needs format code that I never gave it

I have a SanDisk 2GB micro SD card, took it from my old phone, want to format in my new phone and it's asking or a format user code. I never knew it had one, I never assigned it one, I don't know one. Can you please tell me what I can do? The old phone formatted it to 1GB, but new phone is capable of using 2GB and so I'd like to reformat on new phone not old one. Thanks!!

Hello,

You can format your micro-SD Card using a software which you can download by clicking this link. I uploaded it to my FTP site for you and it will be there for a limited time. Download that file and save it to your PC. Then unzip that ".zip" file.

If you format micro SD card connecting it to your PC via USB port, it may not ask for password. (I think your phone asks password to format.)

To format your micro-sd card:

- First plug in your micro-sd card into you PC.

- Run the downloaded "HPUSBFW_2.2.3_MASTER.exe" file.

- In the program menu window, select the device (your memory card).

- Select FAT32 as file system,

- Confirm that all the format options unchecked. (Uncheck the quick format option)

- And click the "Start" button to begin formatting.

Hope this helps you.

Sandisk micro memory chip not working in my lg620g cell phone

The LG620g works with microSD cards. Your 4GB card is actually a microSDHC card. While it fits into the slot, it's electronically incompatible and will not work in this phone. You need to use microSD cards, 2GB and smaller.

After i insert my 1 gb sandisk micro sd card into my blackberry 8530, an error message comes up: "cannot access media card due to fatal errors" i have tried to install, repair, and format it...

It sounds like in your situation that you may have a bad card. If you cannot get your card to mount to your phone for storage, I would try to find access to a pc that has an SD card slot that you can try to format it that way. If the card still wont format, your looking at a defective card and will need to purchase a new one.

You can find Micro SD cards here for purchase.

I added a 2gb mirco SD card to my Sansa e270 6.0gb player, but the memory is still only showing 10mb of the original 6.0 gb available for use. How do I get the Sansa to recognize and use the 2 gb mirco SD...

Hi,when you purchase a new micro SD card before use, youwill need to format the memory card so that you will be able to know the actual size of the Micro SD card by checking the details after formatting it.

After formatting the micro SD card and checking the details, if you still do not see the accurate size which is about 1.88mb or the about, that means the micro SD card you bought needs to be replaced. Not a good one.

Have a nice day.

The PIC or EEPROM inside these cards may not be working. I guess you best bet is to buy a new one try Kingston brand or go with another Sandisk.
