I have a Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ80U Plasma TV for almost a year and a half now. When I turn the TV on, the picture comes up and then it starts flashing the channel # and no picture at all. We can't change the channel or do anything. Please help?

Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ80U no back light

There is no backlight CCFL lamps to Plasma displays, like LCD ones. If there is no screen with plasmas, the Z-Sustain board should be checked and replaced. This is actually a skilled work, and not a user repairable one, if the user is not experienced to work with plasma displays. Check this link and see whether you can do it by yourself. The link have enough details about the faults to Panasonic brand TVs.

Just bought a 50 panasonic viera, when we hook up ps3 on hdmi cable, we have sound but no picture.

Plasma TV normally do not have the resolution required for PS3 unless the plasma TV is fullHD( 1920x1080p) pixels.

HD Ready Plasma = 1024 x 768p
PS3 Outputs = (fullHD)1920x1080 or (HDReady) 1280 x 720p.

LCD TV accepts the resolution matches the resolution the PS3 is outputting.
