Sony KV-36XBR250 TV Logo
Anonymous Posted on May 12, 2010

I just got the Sony KV-36XBR250 from a friend of mine. It worked fine at his house. I have since moved it 1 mile down the road and I plugged the satellite cable into the "to converter" port and I don't get any kind of signal, just a black screen. I plugged the Wii in and it works fine. I do not have the owners manual yet so I don't know what to do to trouble shoot. I' wondering if it is in the settings. (By the way, my old tv was working fine before we switched).

Double check your cable routing. The cable that goes into the tv from a satellite box should be "out to tv" or something like that. If you have an old vcr laying around you can test that on channel 3 to the tv. Just in case something broke in the tuner circuit. Hope that helps.

Testimonial: "Well you were right in that I had it plugged into the wrong tv port. It was supposed to be in the VHF port. As soon as I tried it, it worked! I also eventually found the owner's manual online too. Thanks!"

Check whether the filament of CRT glow or not. If not, check all the solder terminals at the CRT base card. If it glows, check all the voltages at the video output card, said above. Sony Wega Kv-36XBR250 screen blinking

I have seen this flashing before, this could be an indication that the picture tube is weak, what happens is that if the white balance is off there is a circuit called akb it monitors the kathode of each gun and if they are not in balance it will attempt to balance it out. if it can't the picture will begin to flash, sometimes in some models the power light will blink 5 times. On some models the power light will only flash if the tv gives up trying to compinsate for white balance and shuts off compeletely. If you see the tv shutting off with 5 blinks then you know for sure it is time for a new set.

Blinking picture

TV Repairman came out today to look at my Sony KV-36XBR250 today with the exact same problem - he was able to adjust the settings through the service menu, but said it was a temporary fix only.

The picture tube is going and the Sony circuitry has a "video mute" that it uses when it senses the tube is not warmed up enough. The degraded state of the tube causes the blinking on and off as the signal from the tube wavers.

He ballpark estimated the tube replacement cost well above the price for replacing the set with a 37" LCD, so it's going to the dump...

shannonlamb- check the back of your set where the cable ect. hook up, there may be a button on the back for speaker on/off.If not then check the menu to see if there is speaker on/off in menu make sure it is on.The last is the old tap test, just tap the back and sides,if you get sound at all it is internal cold solder joints.Let me know ----- cooltek Feb.15/08

Toshiba 36a41 television

You should be able to use your remote control to do this.Your channel 73 is more than likely UHF 73 so you need to put your tv in the antenna setting rather than cable setting. Once you do this just input 73 with your remote. Hope this helps! Stargazer
