Turns on but the motor doesn't run anymore

We actually have the DH404EY5 model. Have had it for years and has
run great. Last fall the lights come on it, but the motor quit on us. I would like to see if it is something that would be able to be fixed. Thanks!

If it is the compressor it will be best to just replace the unit as repair will exceed the cost of new. If it is the fan motor it would be feasible to replace. To determine would require the use of a meter to see if motor gets voltage. If nothing works it could be as simple as a new power switch. Unfortunately in this venue I can only surmise. I wish you luck!

I have a Kenmore Dehumidifier the fan will run for a while and then stops. I greased the fan motor it ran for a while and then stopped. My feeling is the fan motor bearing has loosened and as the motor...

does the motor feel extremely hot? how free are the bearings? Is there any squeaking when the fan turns? any resistance at all? If you have a problem with the bearings then change them that would cause the thermal overload to trip in the motor to unsure it doesn't burn out.

Compressor runs and you can feel the the heat exchanger cool, but the fan doesn't run and no water comes out of the drain hose, the full indicator light works fine

The fan has to run or the moisture will freeze on the coil, try to help the fan motor turn reach in and the blade a flick in any direction and then pull your long skinny helper out and watch the fan it may just run or give you a idea whats up. They get dirty and I'm sure that it worked last time. Nothing fancy but it might help.

Fedders a7dh45b2a*a-r dehumidifier shuts off before the bucket fills

Actually, it's probably doing what it should. Let me explain: Dehumidifiers run until they have lowered the humidity/moisture level to where you have the humidity extraction level set. At that point, the unit shuts OFF, until senses the humidity level has risen above where you set the level and it turns ON again. That doesn't mean the bucket will always be full when it shuts OFF. It may turn ON & OFF many times before the bucket is full. Watch for the Bucket Full Light to illuminate. That's when the bucket is FULL and needs to be emptied.

Hope this helped you understand how the unit works.

The unit turns out and runs fine. The fan blows. But the moisture is not being removed. I did insert a hose last fall and it worked fine then. Now it doesn't remove moisture with using the hose or...

You may have the humidity level set to high. If it's above 60%, that's what it's going to maintain, not remove. Set the humidity level on the lowest setting and try again. Whether you're using the hose or not, I don't suspect it's playing a role in it. Also, clean and reinstall the air intake filter.

Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

No water in the bucket

You most likely have a freon leak, or the compressor is not running. When the machine first turns on you should be able to see if the compressor is running or if it is just the fan. If the compressor is not running it does have a start devise and a relay on it that can be replaced. If the compressor is bad, most units have a 5 year warranty on the compressor, so contact the manufacturer for warranty service. If the compressor is running you have a freon leak, and it would need to be found, repaired and the freon replaced. This is a large repair, estimated charge for a leak repair would be around $149.99 The reason is the long time it takes to find the leak, and all the parts needed. Drier, valve, freon, etc.. Good luck, and I hope it is only the relay. You can get those relitively inexpencively. 3 in 1 kits are also good for a hard to start compressor. They give the compressor a little more kick to start it. They are about $28.00 and easy to install once you are to the compressor. I hope this will FixYa.

Goldstar dehumidifier won't stay on

Check the relative humidity in the room or space where you are operating the dehumidifier. Damp feeling and actual humidity level are two separated items. Humidifiers will run for a few minutes until it is signaled that the humidity is already low enough and then shut down.

Dehumidifer - Working??? Not Sure.

if you can verify that the compressor is still active (is there a noticeable hum or buzz and / or do the room lights slightly dim during power on?) then the most likely problem is a loss of freon. if the compressor never turns on, then a faulty humidistat is likely...an electrician can run a test of this by "jumpering it out" to force on the compressor motor.
