Proton TV My Proton TV has sound but no picture. Does anyone know what may be wrong with it?

Do you hear audio when the TV is turn on or any light indicator on the front panel?
Due to the age of this TV, there could be a number of failures in the circuitry.

Might be some loose solder terminal/s at its horizontal output section. The set should be checked.

did u go through the menu and check for the contrast and tints?

i hope so.but if you know how someone who understands electronics can be of help.

It could be as simple as a fuse

try unplugging the tv (no electricity what so ever going into the tv) and just let it stand vertically for atleat 24-48hours then plug it in and try it out.

if that easy fix doen't work then you either have a blown fuse or and busted lamp. contact a professional and show them your warranty.

1. i think filament voltage problem. please cheak the power supply output.

2. dry points on the neck board.

3. filament voltage diode or capacitor bad.

This sound like the standard Mitshubisi PIP board problem. There are two ways to adress this one is to repair the board, this involves replacing surface mounted capacitor and is about %80.00 sucsessful. The other is to simply bypass this board. this option is the way to go, it involves installing two capacitor on the main board and fixes the main pix but kills the Picture in Picture (PIP) I will send off both these repairs to your E-mail

This TV set is still under the warranty and it seems proton has no local service available to you. I know its to late to tell you this but anytime you purchase a set, ask first and see if there is a service local to you. Ok enough of that noise.. I would go back to the store where it was purchaced and ask them if they know of any local shops that handle the warranty repairs.. If you want to pay for the repair, and that will most likly be alot for a flat panel set, You will have to call back proton and ask about the shipping cost and whos responsible for that.
