How do I change the electric wire in a franklin ground water pump from 230v to 115v?
I purchased a Red Lion 3/4 hp convertible ground water pump but must change the power and wiring from the pumps...
You have 4 wires coming out of the fuse box , one white , one bare, one black, one red, right? The fuse is a double pole, 220 volt, ?30?amp, guessing, and you are now wiring up to a 110 volt, motor which needs 20 amps, so, remove one wire from the breaker, red or black, shut it off first, pull the wire off, tape it and mark it what it was. leave the red wire on there, or the black, it doesn't matter, Now you have one hot, one ground, one neutral, hook them up to the pump, the box on the pump has screws, one silver, one brass, the brass is always hot, the colored wires are always hot, The silver screw is neutral, the white is neutral, always, and the ground wire goes to the ground screw, maybe outside of the box. You should be all set, tape off the old colored wire you didn't use and mark it . You might need it someday. Hope this helps.
The wiring diagram should be on the name plate iof the motor .. or on the inside of the electrical connection compartment or the inside of the cover, If it is not there, or confusing please get back to me. It may be a serries of dots with HI, LO above them.
