Use the Ethernet cable to verify the router or modem is working and connects to the Internet. If so, then check your wireless adapter in the desk top through device manager - it should detect the Belkin. Also, verify you are entering the correct WEP keys to access the wireless connection to the router or modem - sometimes it gets typed in wrong.
These wireless adapters are awful small with no cooling features. I think a component on the circuit board over heats, cuts out until it cools and comes back on. I bought a D-Link adapter and it did the same thing. I opened the case to help cool it so it would run a few minutes longer. I would touch it very carefully to see what got hot. Something under a sheilded cover would heat the shield, so I crazy glued a heat sink to that, cut a hole in the outside case and put it all ack together. It still gets quite hot and once in a while cuts out. A better solution would be a better until, but I cannot recommend one. Sorry See what you can do to keep it cool is all I can suggest.
Well, I finally got the F5D7050 to connect to the router and it says it is connected to the internet. I had to go in and change the IP addresses, instead of it allowing to search for the IP addresses. Now the problem I have is that the internet explorer is not registering that I am online. I have restarted the computer a couple of times, but internet explorer still will not connect. It just continues to show the unable to display the page. The computer in question is on XP. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
the passkey is the code that is found in your router security settings, each routers number is different, so look in the router, as you must of initially done this to get your pc to connect wirelessly
can you connect to the internet if you use a ethernet cord to connect directly to the router? If so , check the password you provided to connect to the network.
your wep key is wrong go to a pc thats hardwired to that router and u need to type in browser 192.168.1.1 if its linksys, if its belkin or either brands the second to last digit changes e.g. 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.2.1 u need the default password and check wireless settings.. security.. wep key 1 copy it and use that to connect. and easy way to find more is portforward.com

Dont think the software is too good with Belkin but the encryption I used was TKIP (Belkin did work sometimes!) I also had a network key. sorry I cant help more-melanie
