First I will want you to know that support for win98 has long reached end of life. I don't think that win98 support mass storage unit of that capacity. I will suggest you opgrade your os to winXP

check the cable & more better way use duel usb cable which occupy 2 usb & i Normal Hdd connector

Make sure its turned on and plugged in, try another port.

Dont use extension USB ports as they confuse the PC if something else is also using the port assigned to it.

click on the start button on your desktop then click my computer then right click on the hard drive and choose open and you will see your files

It is a 30 gig.

What type of Computer are you installing this 80g drive on? How old is it? I need to know some specifics, because in older machines the BIOS are not setup to recognize large capacity HD, in addition you may have recieved a bad Drive. Please advise! I may have an answer for you!
