The odds are its a defect. If the DVD player is old. (which it sounds like) then it may just have broken. there are three little clips that stick to the disc so when it spins it doesn't go out of place. After a while you can just break it. Normally hard to do but anything can happen. Hope this helps
It won't play for one of two reasons: 1. There is something inside the DVD player, which keeps it from playing. 2. The DVD player's battery has run out of juice and can no longer play, meaning the player needs to be replaced.
when you play nothing but bootlegs in a dvd player, they tend to burn out the eye inside the player to where it will only read bootlegs. the original movies capabilities won't work anymore. hope this is a help to you my friend.
Hello If it does not play the cleaner disc, just inspect whether the disc inserted in spins inside it. You can check this by open the upper cover of the player, and inserting a disc into it. If inserted disc spins inside, and the player won't read it, the fault is with its laser pickup unit, and it should be replaced with same type and number. If the disc dos not spins, the fault is with the sled motor [the motor that spins the inserted disc], has damaged, and should be replaced. OK.
Hello
There are mainly three motors for most of the DVD players. One to spin the disc we insert in, other to load the laser pickup unit to-and-fro inside it to read the disc and an other one to load the tray mechanism 'in-out'. According to your description, the disc spins inside, and you can hear its spin. So motor which spins the disc has no trouble at all I should say. Then comes to the second motor that moves the laser assembly inside it. If it do not work, the laser pickup unit won't move and no reading will take place and 'No Disc' display will be the result. The last chance is with Laser Pickup Unit itself. Just get this unit repaired by any well experienced service technician or by the authorised service center, because, there are special tools to open this unit. As it is a compactable one, more care should be given to it while repairing. Suspect the second motor I described earlier, and the Laser Pickup Unit. OK.
I have one of these players from philips, and it is just out of waranty, and it was only used about six times and now it won't read the dvd's anymore.PURE JUNK DON'T BUY.
sir,,,your appliance needs maintenance,,,,u need to clean your dvd player especially its lens but be careful you might destroy it,,,use ligther fluid or any in cleaning liquid materials but it should evaporate fast,,,,thnkss and hope to help you thnksssssss,,!!
When you say it won?t read are you trying to play commercial DVD movies or read DVD data disks?
If you're trying to play movies then you need a couple of things the first being some type of player program. Real player works as does Windows media player but usually DVD drives come with a striped down version of PowerDVD or WinDVD.
If you in fact have a player installed and when a DVD is inserted in your drive it doesn't play it may not be configured to automatically play DVDs. Try opening your player program and trying to manually play your DVD.
Let us know if you have any success or if you need more assisted. If you do let us know what player program and operating system you have and any error messages that may appear.
