My Samsung 50 inch HLN 5065 DLP has the following systems:
problem started out with frozen screen and no sound, and set would not turn off with power button or remote-had to unplug from outlet. Plug back in and Set would come back on and play 5minutes to an hour before freezing again. Sometimes all the warning lights blink, sometimes not. So far I have replaced the lamp and color wheel. Now after replacing these 2 parts when TV is turned on it sounds like it is cycling up, but the lamp does not light at all, the screen stays black, and the TV soon starts a cycle of cutting iself on and off, and after the 1st time doing this all 3 lights start blinking.
I am thinking of going ahead and replacing the Lamp Ballast as all you read on the web is that these 3 parts are the most likely causes of these time systems.
Can someone shed any light (no pun) on my problem before I nickel and dime my way to a new TV.

Does a negative image appear on the board? If so, then
The negative
image on the screen is the DMD board (Digital Mirror Board). The cycle
sound is the color wheel trying to spin but if the DMD board is going
bad, it will effect the color wheel and not spin. This will make your image freeze.
Sometimes the DMD board can be repair. But do understand not all can be fixed.

Hi,
I would strongly recommend you to go ahead and replace the ballast.That's the only option you are left with.If you fail then there are two options get it repaired by a technician or buy a new one.
