Hello. In the mean time you can use a fridge magnet to get you back on the machine. You might need a strong magnet, so if the first one doesn't work keep trying.
try googling the brand of machine you have to purchase parts or try eBay under treadmill safety keys.
most GBX shredders have a magnetic "reed" type switch inside the shredder head that is actuated by a magnet on your door. have you recently lost the magnetic catch on your door? if you have lost it and have access to a strong magnet, you should be able to open door and move magnet around on front side of shredder head and see the light go out. if magnetic catch is on door, then perhaps your door is misaligned in such a way as to not energize the switch.
Sometimes they can be bypassed. If you have a thick refrigerator magnet, try passing that over they key area to see if that will unlock it. Thin business card style magnets are not strong enough. If that does not work, call the manufacturer for a replacement key, they are around $20 plus shipping.

Hi I folded up a piece of paper several times to make it into a small rectanguler shape and inserted into the slot for the key and it worked.
The replacement key doesn't need to be magnet just small enough to fit the shap of the slot is fine.Mine was a Weslo cadence 1000 (bought in 2002)
