I can not keep my mower running. It ran great before winter, now it acts like it is going to run.. but dies. I have new gas in it, new oil, and changed the spark plug. What else could it be? craftsman 617385190

Hi, I would suggest taking the main jet out of the carberator and cleaning it with carb cleaner. If you did'nt drain the gas out of it before winter, the gas has gotten old and has plugged up your main jet in the carberator. It could also be that the needle has got **** on it and is stuck, I'd clean that also. Your problem is all in the carberator, and old stale gas sitting in it all winter is the reason.

Did you change/clean the air filter? May be that is the problem.

Why does my briggs and straten model 313-707 hard start then dies after a few seconds when it is running it acts like it's starving for fuel replaced fuel filter fuel cap and cleaned carb

Try replacing the plug.could also be a spark problem from the coil .you can purchase a spark tester which you can fit between the plug and lead .pull start mower and watch if spark is good.if ok then get a can of carby clean start mower and spray carby clean spareingly while running and if it keeps going the fuel is the problem

07 mtd yardsman mower with 13.5 tecumseh runs great untill engage mower , then dies down and blows black smoke

This sounds like a micro switch acting up, the first switch to check is the seat switch, make sure the block connecter is pushed fully home on the switch ( there is often a fail safe inside the connecter should the block come away from the switch )

My troy bilt snow blower that i bought last season (new) ran great i drained the gas at end of winter and this year is hard to start and runs poorly stalls often and bogs down spits and sputters and also...

I am guessing you did not run a gas stabilizer through the unit. Start the unit and run it while spraying carburetor cleaner in spurts into the carburetor. What has happened is that the small amount of gas has dried or what we call varnished causing internal parts to stick. If that fails, removed carb and disassemble and clean, reinstall.

22 in Yard Maching push mower. Used 1 1/2 seasons. Bought new. Was running great. Shut it off for about 5 min. Upon restarting, it ran very uneven when the choke was disengaged. You could see it...

First remove spark plug wire and check that it isn't full of grass around the blade. ///Then go to filter which is on top of carburator and clean with varsol. Squeeze excess varsol out and then add few drops of oil across the top and replace back on top of carburator.///If it still acts up, then add a gas pressurative to the fuel and let it run through..let us know how you make out.

! have a Troy built mower with a Honda engine, it quit running and will not start. I changed the spark plug, it ran for about one hour. Now the mower will not start.

Hello. If the gas has been sitting all winter, remove it with a siphoning bulb and put in brand new gas, not even gas that you have been storing all winter. Also, change your air filter. Finally get a can of starter fluid and a helper. While one person squirts a bit of starter fluid into the air intake [near the air filter] the other person starts it and use more squirts of starter fluid to keep it running. Joe
