Screen on my HL-R5667W DLP is fading from the left
My late 2005 HL-R5667W DLP is fading from the left side - top to bottom - about 1.5 inches. You can still see what is behind it but it is a strong shadow. What could be the problem?

This can be the sync wheel assy, failure in the drive circuit for the display chip, or an illumination fault. You will have to give the set out for service.
the reflecting mirror is likely loose and falling down inside the light reflecting tube. you should have seen the band getting darker and larger, the small mirror is in front of the lamp and bends the light, remove the lamp and look down the tube (light path)
Your model has a maximum resolution of 720p. What you might want to do
is make sure that both your cable/sat box and game stations are
outputting at no more than 720 resolution. It's easy to assume that all
HDTVs may accept a higher signal, and while they might, some of the
scene changes or handshakes may make that operation cause the symptoms
you describe.
Don't recommend replacing the light tunnel if you never had any experience with DLP optical systems. you need to pay careful attention to the way you remove any screws or you will be forced disassembling the engine multiple time to get the alignment correctly.
