Try placing some fuel mix in the spark plug hole and try starting. It should pop a few times--if so, then concentrate on the carburetor and fuel supply. Check the fuel filter, air cleaner, and muffler for plugging. Check the condition of all fuel lines. Make sure that all carburetor fasteners are tight. Does the machine have a primer bulb and does it fill with fuel when pumped? Have the H and L jet screws been turned? If so, turn both screws CW to stops (lightly), then back out CCW 1-1/2 turns each. This is a basic setting and the engine should start and run. Pull the throttle full on after warm up and adjust H needle CW so that the engine just starts 2-stroking. Release the throttle and adjust L needle CW so that the engine idles fairly well yet allows the engine to 'follow the throttle'. Set idle speed screw so that the engine continues to run, but speed is fairly low. Hope this helps!

Hi,

It sounds like you've done a long list of troubleshooting activities. At this time, it might be good to call Ryobi and ask them for a local dealer that can provide a free in-person analysis of your machine in order to get it to start again.

Thank you.

How do I replace the fuel bulb?

Homelite and Ryobi appear to be made by the same manufacturer. Home Depot now carries a "Fuel System Tune-Up Kit, AC04122," that includes 2 replacement fuel lines and a replacement Primer Bulb for 25cc, 30cc, and 26cc 2-cycle engines. Cost is $7 +.

Homelite 21" hedge trimmer. Won't start. Has spark, compression, fuel (used a little starter fluid), checker spark arrestor and muffler (clear). I haven't torn it down to check the Woodruff key but it ran...

Abell, put a little drop of petrol in the plug hole, replace plug and give it a pull. If it fires up for a moment, it is a fuel starvation problem. Check the carb, clean and make sure the nedel valve in the bottom of the carb is not sticking. Good luck!

I have a homelite model uto8550 26cc mighty blower/vac. On initial startup it runs at half choke then stalls when i turn it to run. Any suggestions?

1. check fuel filter in gas tank (for clogged condition).
2. Check carb jet for dirt (squirt carb cleaner in jet and fuel inlet

Summary: your carb is not getting enough fuel to mix properly with constant air flow. Therefore, fuel supply needs to be cleaned... then you will run happy!!

Homelite MightyLite 26cc Edger won't start

You have to make sure the case of the plug is making good connection against the metal on motor. Use file or sandpaper to get good connection on the plug and the motor.

Homelite yard blower won't start

1st how old is the gas and 2nd how long did it sit for since you last used it? If there was any old fuel left in before now (more than 14 days) than it is possible your carb needs cleaning. If it's less than 14 days then you might want to check the compression. IF you have good compression, then you might want to take it to a service center to have it diagnosed.
