Cannot use console until subscription payments are udated

Hello! Your Xbox is simply telling you that in order for you to access any of the online content available for the Xbox 360, you will have to update your subscription payments by adding a valid credit card to the account credentials so that Microsoft is able to charge you for your usage of their online service, Xbox Live. Until you update your subscription payment option, you cannot access the online content. To update your information on the account, go to Xbox.com, log into your account and then head on over to account details and then "Payment Options" and then update your information by entering your valid credit card information. Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

Then you will have to contact Xbox and bring your account current; there is no way to bypass payment on a subscription service.

How to cancel xbox live

Here's the solution i found:

To end your membership immediately:
contact Xbox Support. If you cancel immediately, you lose access to the service for the remainder of your paid subscription period.

To end your membership at the end of your current term
To cancel your membership at the end of the current term, turn off auto renewal by following these steps. With automatic renewal turned off, your membership will expire at the end of its term.
  1. Sign in to the xbox live website by using your Microsoft account. Note Make sure that you sign in using the Microsoft account associated with the Xbox Live account that you want to manage.
  2. Once you've signed in, click My Account
  3. In the Subscriptions section, click Go to Subscriptions.
    1. If you're not on a trusted device, you'll be prompted to choose an existing proof, either your email or a phone number, so we can send you a security code. The code is sent to either your email address or mobile phone.
    2. After you receive the security code, click Next.
    3. Enter the code that you received, and then click Submit.
  4. Locate the subscription for which you want to change your auto renewing payment status.
  5. Click Cancel automatic payment.
  6. Click Continue.

I am assuming you are talking about the autorenewal of XBOX Live. In order to stop the autorenewal, you need to call microsoft support and let them know that you do not want your live subscription to auto-renew. I have included the numbers you need below.

Phone assistance is available:
  • 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 A.M. Eastern Time

Suspended account due to payment options as card had expired.

Go to the xbox live website and sign in with your email and password which should direct you to your gamertag and there should be payment options to renew the credit card subscription or purchase the month cards at a store like Gamestop or Walmart. Xbox.com

It sounds like you need to buy a new live card to continue subscription to the service though I don't entirely understand your question.

Old (Original) Xbox - Live Account

You will have to purchase a subscription code
I'm not sure if you can get them at retail stores, but they are available on Ebay. Don't get the ones that state theya re for xbox live gold membership.
You can also get the xbox live starter pack which includes 3 months xbox live and a headset (that is if you can still find them, again ebay is a great starting place)
That's how I did it.
Happy gaming
