Mate does your sky box have a volume control as well as your television, I have a sky box(fox-tel)with volume control as well as the television volume control.... I have the television volume up full and control the volume through my sky box(fox-tel).... Hope this helps... CHEERS...

Your TV has a SCART socket. So you can use anything from a plain "receive only" Sky box through to the recording HD boxes. As long as the box also has a SCART socket then the TV and box can be connected.

If you take a box abroad with you to leave there permanently then you'll need to think about what kind of contract (if any) you want. Used Sky boxes are available cheap from Gum and the Facebook selling pages, or have a look in your local classifieds.

If you buy a recorder box, remember that the recording and Live Pause features are only available with a Sky subscription. They don't work with an expired viewing card or no viewing card at all. If you think you'd like to record programmes while abroad then consider a Freesat PVR instead. It will cost more in the short term, but you will have the same kind of functions as a Sky recorder box.

One other option is TV via the net. There's a device called Slingbox. It uses the internet to port your home's Sky box signal to you somewhere else in the world. You don't bother with a second Sky box, just add a Slingbox digitiser to the home Sky box and connect it to your internet service. In Spain, you have a Slingbox receiver connected to the internet and your TV. What you've then got is control of the UK Sky box, and those signals sent to you in Spain via a web connection. You operate the Sky box in the same way you would at home. The difference is that the TV is 1500 miles away.

Slingbox relies on you having a decent internet service in Spain. That might not be practical, or possible, or even desirable. But if you want to have your full Sky package in a second location without forking out for a whole year's subscription then it is one solution that wiorks.

I have a toshiba Hdd & DVD / Video Recorder However I can not get it to work with my Sky setr up If I set thimer recording it does not work when I turn it on it will only work pn channels that are not from sky it will not instant record nor will it record programmes prerecoreded of sky HDD it will record everthing other than what I want.

plug the sky output cable directly into the recorder then press record

try formatting your hard drive, you will loose all the saved programmes but it may fix ur problem.

Is there anything mentioned about cable accessible via the remote ... assuming you have one that works for the unit?

My solution was to return item to Argos, got my money back and will now go ahead and order a Sky Plus Box. Apparently these type of Recorder will not record Sky programs!!
