My PJ551 M. Projector is blinking red for LAMP and Temp? What can the prob. be?

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. if the Lamp error and Temperature error lights are flashing red this means that there are two separate errors.

• A flashing lamp light means the lamp failed to ignite. It could be a lamp driver problem or lamp failure. Replace the lamp to resolve the issue. If the issue is not resolved, then service the projector.
• A flashing Temperature light signals a fan error. Turn the projector off and allow it to cool down. If the light is still flashing after the projector is turned back on, service the projector.

Unfortunately, the PJD5111 is indicating that the lamp has overheated. If you wait 45 minutes for the projector to cool down and these lights still come on, then the unit has an internal failure. The failure may be in the temperature sensor or that circuit. If the projector is still under warranty or on a maintenance plan, contact the dealer.

Without more info, I'll tell you some things to check...Make sure the power cord is still plugged in firmly. With the unit unplugged, check the lamp for damage, looseness, etc. Was the unit hot when you moved it? If it was, the lamp was more prone to damage due to the heat. Always be VERY gentle if you have to move a hot projector for any reason. Did the unit sustain any hard impact while moving? Impacts crack boards, loosen connectors, and damage lamps. Make sure the lamp door is closed completely--there is a switch on the door to prevent the projector from coming on if the door is open. Make sure you didn't press any buttons on the unit too hard while holding it during moving.

All you should need to do is go to the menu on the projector, and find the Filter Timer. Hit the right arrow to select the filter time, and then hold the rest button on the projector until you are prompted to confirm the reset. Hit menu to confirm and it should now reset the filter timer. Now cut the projector off and back on and the lights should stop blinking. I hope this helps.
