SOURCE: Polaroid model #3490 digital camera will not stay on!!!

This camera is very cheap
and for me to get it to work i have to use the Energizer Digital batteries
and they have to be fresh
i dont have too much technical information for you
its just a poorly engineered camera
actually when manufactered it only sold well to the christmas gift giver type of people because it was a good brand, looked nice and was at a low price
its not a very serious camera

How to charge battery

The specs on this camera say that it has an external charger. Sometimes the usb cord will also charge the camera, but not all the time (depends on manufacturer). You will have to contact Polaroid, most likely, unless you can find a generic charger at Best Buy, etc.
Here is some information about the internal charger of the camera from redpowers.com:
The Lifespan of the Polaroid T737 Battery The life of a rechargeable battery for Polaroid T737 Digital Camera operating under normal conditions is generally between 500 to 800 charge-discharge cycles.
This translates into one and a half to three years of battery life for the average user. As the T737 battery begins to die, the user will notice a decline in the running time of the battery. When a battery that originally operated the device for two hours is only supplying the user with an hour's worth of use, it's time for a new Polaroid T737 replacement battery.
Is it Possible to Upgrade the Digital Camera Battery to a Newer Chemistry? NiCad, NiMH and Li-Ion are all fundamentally different from one another and cannot be substituted unless the Digital Camera has been pre-configured from the factory to accept more than one type of rechargeable battery technology. The difference between them stems from the fact that each type requires a different charging pattern to be properly recharged. Therefore, the Polaroid T737 Digital Camera internal charger must be properly configured to handle a given type of rechargeable battery.

They didn't explain how to configure, but it should be in the software menu of the camera.

I found batteries for this camera on google, but couldn't find a charger. Looks like if you have the right type of battery, the internal charger (through the usb port) will work.
Good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

Low battery all the time

this is not a good signal. you can make this prove. clean the internal camera contact with a specific contact spray and one cotton fioc
ore you can use normal denaturated alcohol. this is one possibilty. if you dont have any betterment. its probably that the camera have a eletronic defekt. this is not so uncommon with old camera. the camera have internal fuse the works not good and gives this problem. motherboard defekt. good luck i hope for you that is only a dirty contact faulty.

My battery drains out within 15-20 pictures on the A550. What is the reason? I am using Eveready Duracell batteries. If I just remove and insert the same batteries again it takes about 5-10 pictures more....

digital cameras are just like leeche for batteries.even if you spend a thousand rupees for an imported alkaline it would go off in 20 mins.get yourself a rechargeable NiMH batteries.

My Kodak EasyShare C180 Digital camera, came with "Kodak" batteries after those died, I inserted new batteries, and now everytime I try to turn the camera on, it doesn't respond. I have tried Lithium...

hi i just to have silimar problem with old panasonic, kodak and polaroid cameras.

try to use Duracel alkalines, not the cheap ones with out alkaline those are for remotes and clocks. flashlights.

if you are using rechargables make sure they are 2700mha AA NiMH or higher. lower won't work(there is another kind of rechargeables batteries those don't work on it).

for the lithium i never used them. they were kind of expensive compare to alkalines.
If i help. please rate me :)

New batteries in, turn on and Polaroid comes on and then goes to black screen and off.

Not all batteries are created equal, especially in digital cameras. Try lithium ion batteries (Energizer Advanced or Duracell PowerPix) or quality NiMH rechargable batteries. Regular alkalines, especially some of the cheaper ones, are not recommended regardless of what the manual says.
