"remove all of the memory cards and press select"

I plugged in my printer, lexmark x6570, to scan something and the screen reads: "remove ALL of the memory cards and press select". I have never used a memory card or photo card to my knowledge. I only scanned about 5 pictures on this printer in the past. Only the photo card button will light up, I can't press the copy mode, scan mode or fax mode. Thank you for your help.

Hi, thank you so much for the response. It actually responded to me pressing the scan mode button when I turned it on without the printer being connected to my laptop (via USB). Not sure why that's happening, but I'm thankful it worked for me. I will try rebricking the printer to refresh itself as you described, maybe that will solve the source of the problem. Thank you again!!

Have you tried rebricking the printer to refresh itself? Unplug the power supply(black box behind the printer where the power cord is attached) from the printer. Wait for at least a minute then plug it back in. Make there's no memory card inserted in the printer.
