I was reading some of the others, and someone mentioned doing a reset by holding down a button while plugging it in.. how do you do that reset exactly? My TV won't do anything right now except blink that stupid power light.
The power light is an error code that tells me exactly what is wrong with the TV. Count how many times the POWER led flashes per second? (Dont worry about the OPC led)
1x per second (constant steady blink) = bad inverters/lamps
2x per second = bad power supply
3x per second = bad main board
If its 1x per second, try doing the factory initialization to get the TV back on to confirm a bad lamp/inverter.
Try doing the Factory Initialization (WARNING: THIS GIVES YOU ACCESS TO
THE SERVICE MENU. DO NOT ADJUST ANYTHING IN THE SERVICE MENU OTHER THAN
WHAT I PROVIDE YOU IN THESE INSTRUCTIONS. IF YOU DECIDED TO ADJUST
ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT I PROVIDE YOU IN THESE INSTRUCTIONS, I WILL
NOT BE RESPONSIBLE IF ANYTHING WRONG HAPPENS TO YOUR TV.)
Once the TV turns on, take a look at the screen. Does it flicker then shut off? Or do you hear a buzzing noise from the right edge of the TV? If so, then you have bad inverters or lamps. Once youre done, unplug the tv to get it out of the service menu.
If it is 2x per second or 3x per second, then those boards are just bad and they need to be replaced. There isnt anything you can do right now to fix it.
Replace the Main board corrected the problem........
1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4
times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off,
if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

I have the same problem and did the diagnosis as described. I am getting constant flashing of power light at 1 sec intervals. No "K" came on but the power did and then shut off again with a "click".
How difficult/espensive a repair am I in for?
How much the board cost?
The lights blinking and won't turn on LC37D40U
I had to replace the Main board of the TV, just be sure to get the correct one for your set, take the back cover off and look at the label affixed to the board and google it, I have found the one that I needed on Ebay that worked for me. After replacing the board Voolaa I now have a picture.
$45.00 US.
