Most of the time you plug your RCA wires which are red and a white solid colors only, into the equilizer. Plug in every thing that you want to equalize many which speakers do you want to sound better. also check kenwood usa .com look for support your model # and downloads manuals. It's Free. Kenwood kdc-mp242 main sceen doesnot light up anymore or when it wants to,radio work well

you probably have bad solder connections on some surface mount resistors inside of the radio. they would be on the right side of the radio as it is facing you. they need to be resoldered.

New kenwood kdc-mp242 installed turns on but no sound

The Blue/White wire, Brown wire, and Blue wire???? These don't have to be connected unless you are using a separate Power Amp...if you are, then the Blue/White wire needs to be used to switch on the power amp. Here is a link to Kenwood for your KDC-MP242 Instruction Manual. Reference page 16.

Selling Receiver

Hello alleycat121,

The KDC-MP235 was replaced with the KDC-MP238 which was replaced with the KDC-MP242, the current model. It's an entry-level receiver that retails new for around $120 with online prices around $75-100.

If the receiver is in good working condition, and you have all of the paperwork and installation accessories, it should be worth about 50% of new cost.

Hope this helps.
