Projector shuts off

Planar PR3010 projector is ceiling mounted, and will intermittently turn off. The projector may not be on for long (2-5 minutes), and the projected image will turn black. Turning off the projector with the remote won't work, so we have to turn off the projector by the switch on the back. When looking at the bulb life, it only says "0 17 496". Does anyone have suggestions? Is it the bulb? Or projector itself?

How do i mount my hopper projector sv 10 to the ceiling

Yes it should be mounted upside down as you would not want to see the bottom of the projector all the time, unless the bottom is as good looking as the top, which I doubt. I wonder if you bought or got a ceiling mount rack with it. First mount the rack on the ceiling and then fasten the projector to it. And before that its picture has to be turned upside down too.

Settings on ViewSonic PJ513D Ceiling Mounting

The user's guide says for ceiling mounting,
"Set Front Ceiling in the System Setup: Basic > Projector Position menu after you turn the projector on."

The user's guide is on the CD included with the projector as a pdf file. You can also download the user's guide here:

Optoma H56 - turns off just after start up.

It's not a short, the blub is near the end of it's life ~ the optoma is designed to detect when the blub is about to blow and shuts itself down. Turning the projector upside down or right side up usually only gives you a brief reprieve (some have reported a modest amount of extra time gained) on the blub ~ but in the end it's on it's way out and the projector will shut down again.
