Adcom GTP-860II power not working

If the power is not working on your Adcom GTP-860II preamplifier, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check Power Source: Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the preamplifier and a functioning power outlet. Try using a different outlet or power cable to eliminate the possibility of a faulty power source.
2. Power Button/Standby Mode: Make sure that the power button is in the correct position. Some preamplifiers have a standby mode, so check if the power button needs to be pressed or switched to turn on the unit.
3. Fuse: Check if the preamplifier has a fuse. If the fuse is blown, it can prevent the unit from receiving power. Replace the fuse with one of the same rating if necessary.
4. Circuit Breaker: Some preamplifiers have a circuit breaker that may trip if there is an electrical issue. Check if the unit has a circuit breaker and reset it if needed.
5. Internal Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be an internal problem with the preamplifier. It could be a faulty power supply, a malfunctioning component, or a wiring issue. In such cases, it is recommended to have the preamplifier inspected and repaired by a qualified technician or contact Adcom customer support for assistance.
Remember to exercise caution when working with electronic equipment and avoid opening the unit if you are not experienced with electronics. It is best to consult a professional technician for any internal repairs or troubleshooting beyond basic checks.

Samsung TV Model LN40A630M1FXZA, Takes forever to start up, clicks off, loud static noises and strange picture when it is trying to start.

1. Replace the defective electrolytic capacitors on the main power supply first.
2. If above repair did not fix the problem,, replace the main board.

TV suddenly lost picture. I have replaced 5 capacitors and a fuse that were obviously blown. However the power light is on but no picture. How should I proceed. Any suggestions welcome

You have changed certain components , have you tested all the circuits with a multi tester?
If the fix of obviously damaged components has not fixed the fault you will need to do more extensive testing.

Samsung Model 860 LCD TV. Just 2 years old. Screen went black but sound still works. Seems like others are having the same problem.

If the screen is black and stays black, no sign of life at all, you may have one of many tv's with faulty capacitors on the Power Supply Board. Capacitors are responsible for distributing specific amounts of power to a tv's components. That would explain why you have sound but no picture. Most likely, capacitors that send power to the screen have failed.

You have a few options. The first and most obvious is to have it fixed by a pro. The second would be to replace the faulty PSB. The third option would be to replace individual capacitors.

Good luck

Let me know if I can help further.

27" (diagonal screen) Panasonic regular crt TV few years old, no serial # on front and too heavy for me to look at back. Picture comes on great, then a grey (NOT BLACK) screen covers 99% of screen with a...

It will be good to check the capacitor on the +B voltage that goes to the power section in the main board. A filter capacitor of about 47mF/160 V can be defective.
Next check the capacitor on the HT line to the grid-22mf/250V replace.
If possible loop on capacitors in the horizontal section particulary the IC.
Now the tip I can offer:
If the fault occurs on heating shcek out htis area to confirm and isolate the component.
But finally I understand that when you press any key the picture is good.If so check the memory IC/cmos IC in this section for logic control, it might be having a switching fault, a conflict or the video noise is coming on in default but goes off in the data selection mode. Do a soldering around this section on the IC , capacitor and see if the fault goes off or becomes irregular when this section is heated, if so there is a semiconductor producing this noise error .
So start from the begining so that we have a clean voltage inside.
I hope my advice helps.

Recently, after about an hour of play, when my Adcom GTP-760 is warm, a low level hum begins and can be heard on all channels regardles of the source selected. The hum cannot be heard when the unit is...

The filter capacitors are probably going bad is the likely cause.

It may also be bypass capacitor in the preamp section.

Noting whether the hum volume varies with the setting of the volume control would aid troubleshooters.

One might be able to isolate the bad component with freeze mist/circuit cooler.

Component Video Inputs/Outputs Not Behaving as advertised

I have had this problem in the Field with a Client. I had fixed it by going into the ADCOM menu and Resetting ALL of the Inputs and output for the Devices. You have to select everything you need, then exit out of the Menu, SHUT OFF the ADCOM, WAIT about 10 secs, then turn it back on. Or Else it Does Not SAVE Properly! Weird. If you can not see the Menu on the TV Screen then try to hook up a Composite (Yellow) cable from the ADCOM to the TV and select the TV input to make the Changes. I really hope this helps out it sounds like an Evasive problem which is hard not being in front of the Equipment!
