Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

I can't get my Belkin G Wireless router to work with my Clear WiMax modem even after keying in the security key..is this router compatible with this modem?

Any router should work with any modem. Make sure you are running an ethernet cable from the WAN/Uplink port of the router to the modem, or in some cases it will be a USB cable. Also you can test your internet connection by plugging a computer directly into the modem.

Belkin Wireless router problem?

Hello
Sounds like you took all the right steps. In add and remove programs at the control panel, remove your wireless card drivers and anything related to it.
Be sure to write down your wep security key from your router first.

Then remove the card, reboot, put the card back in,then reinstall the drivers.

If this does not work the wireless card may be bad.

Hope this helps.

Trying a add another desk top to an existing Belkin wireless G router at home. Right now there's a desk top and laptop working off this router.Try several times and still can't connect to internet.

Make sure the Belkin wireless is the only device directly connecting to your internet service provider's router/modem. Usually that port is labelled "WAN" or even "Internet". The Belkin should have extra ports/jacks for WIRED connections, right? You then connect the PC into the other remaining ports/jacks on the Belkin (if they're wired) or just use the wireless for the laptop if the laptop has wireless. After getting the wireless going, though, you should lock it down by using WPA encryption key if possible.

Usb network adapter will not maintain connection even though I have good singal strength, 2 computers, 2 different adapters, same problem

Seems like you need to sync your modem and router. Disconnect the power to the modem and router. Then, first connect the modem and wait till all the lights are lit. then re-power your router. Restart your computers and you should be all set. Good luck

Surfboard Cablemodem not communicating with Belkin Wireless Routr

If the modem is actually passing out DHCP, then you have to connect the modem to the router 4 port lan side and not the wan port. Give the router a static ip like 192.168.1.2 and you can talk to it and configure the wireless features.

Cannot finish installation (Belkin F5D8633-4 wireless modem router N mimo)

ok, obvious questions first:

Do you have a different modem from TALKTALK? can you connect to the internet through that?

if so, you may not have to set a username and password for the belkin router: just connect the belkin router's internet port to the talktalk modem and let the talktalk modem handle the automatic connection.

do you know what protocol the talktalk ISP uses?  it's probably PPPOE; make certain that your belkin router is set to the correct protocol.  if you just hook it up to the talktalk modem though, you probably won't have to specificy a protocol at all.
