I have cleaned out the dryer vent and the line that goes out to the backyard with an electric blower to make sure the line is clear of lint. But it still is not heating. Is it maybe the heating element? it is a Whirlpool Duet front load electric dryer that is only about 4 years old...

Check your vent hose and where it exits the building, clean away all lint anything blocking the vent cap or in the vent hose. Remove the vent from the back of the dryer and make sure it is all clean and clear there and make sure the betn is not kinked up when putting the dryer back into it space. Now before you blow me off, if any of this is true for your dryer the heat will build up and trip the thermostat causing it not to heat properly and the blower wheel can not move the air to collect the moisture and remove it from inside the dryer. Also, any sagging vent line can collect moisture which turns to a puddle of water in the line and this to will not allow your dryer to dry the clothes. Good luck I hope I have helped you.
if it's heating then you have a block somewhere, all a dryer does is heat up,cycle off when it reaches the right temp.then cycles on again and moves air.you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides down into, vac out the cabinet where the motor is and clean out the vent line,if the vent line is long, take it off from the back of the dryer,go outside and make sure the vent is clear,go back inside and with a leaf blower blow out the line,if the dryer's electric i would do this once every two years and gas once a year, gas dryers have an open flame inside the cabinet and can catch fire easier than an electric dryer.let me know how you make out
you have to clean out the dryer and the vent line, unplug the dryer, remove the lint filter and then you need to remove and clean out the duct that the filter slides into, then vac out the cabinet where the motor is,go outside and check the vent, make sure it's clear, then remove the vent line from the back of the dryer,if it's a long vent line i use a leaf blower to blow out the line.also if you have a gas dryer, check it after 15 to 30 minutes to make sure the flame is still igniting,if the gas coils are bad they will fail when they heat up,when they heat up the flame doesn't lite until the coils cool down and your clothes will be warm but wet.you should clean the dryer once a year if it's gas and once every two years if it's electric, gas dryers have an open flame and the lint can catch fire easier than electric dryers,do this and your clothes will dry on time,no fires, save energy and money on your bill.good luck
you say there's a flame so i'm thinking this is gas, there is no element in a gas dryer just electric.if the flame is liting for only the first 15 to 30 minutes you have bad gas coils located on the top of the gas valve,if the flame lites but goes out to fast you have to clean out the dryer, you need to unplug the dryer, remove the lint filter and then if on your dryer the duct that the lint filter slides into can be removed take it off and clean it,vac out where the motor is and if you have a shop vac blow off the motor, you'll be surprized how much junk comes off the motor, next if you have a long vent line from the back of the dryer to the outside vent, take off the vent line from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, make sure the outside vent is clear before you blow out the line,i've seen birds nests blow out of the line.you should do this once a year if it's gas so you don't have a fire, your clothes will dry on time and your parts in the dryer will last longer and you'll save money on energy.let me know what you find, next time send the model number
you need to clean out the vent line and the dryer.unplug the dryer, pull out the filter, remove the bottom panel and then remove the duct that the lint filter slides into and clean it out,vac out the inside of the dryer,if you have a shop vac you can blow all the lint from the back and then vac it up,make sure you blow off the motor, alot of lint gets built up around and inside it,pull out the dryer and pull off the vent line,if it's a long run i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, first go outside and make sure the vent is clear so when you blow out the vent line nothing is blocking the lint from coming out.this will take care of your problem,do this once a year and your dryer will last longer, you'll need less parts changed out over the years because the dryer won't over heat, you'll save on electricity, your clothes willl dry on time and most of all you won't have any fires
that's the glow from the heater, this is normal.the dryer should be cleaned if it's electric i would clean it every two years, you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, vac out the inside of the dryer where the motor is and disconnect the vent line from the back of the dryer and clean out the vent line,if it's a long run to the outside i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, make sure the outside duct is clear also.if you do this you wont have to worry about a fire, your clothes will dry on time, you'll save electricity and your dryer wont run hotter than normal and your parts in the dryer will last longer.let me know how you make out
when was the last time you cleaned the dryer?try removing the vent line from the back of dryer to see if any air is blowing out, also is the dryer noisy?you could have a bad blower wheel.you need to clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into and behind that duct you'll find the blower wheel, also vac out the dryer where the motor is and if the vent line is a long run from the back of dryer to the outside i use a leaf blower to blow it out, make sure the outside vent isn't blocked with anything before you blow the vent line out, send model number if you need help getting the blower wheel part number if that's your problem, you should clean the dryer at least once a year so you don't have a fire, good luck
most of the time your complaint is the home owners house venting.run a load with the venting detached[it wont hurt a thing] if ok then must clean venting till dried as well as with out venting.if still long dry times first must make sure air ways in dryer are clean[should have good air flow at back if hand held there] and may need to remove front to clean lint filter area.and inspect blower ,making sure mounted to shaft and not worn in the center[blower key way, inside the hole where motor shaft goes thru blower]you dryer only has one element so if you have heat its heating.if you did all above and have problem still can be electronic[thermostats, timers etc........but i have fixed 1000s of dryers and their having problems are rarer.i hope that helps God bless ,tom
forget temp ck..first ck air flow at rear of dryer be sure strong air flow present if not remove back ..remove 4 screws holding blower housing to inside wall remove the 2 screws under lint screen on top ..clean blower housing if housing clear ck vent line all the way to end outside for restrictions ..reinstall line to dryer be sure not to crimp or flatten hose when pushing dryer back to wall ...quick ck dry a load with rear vent hose disconnected if cks ok definite vent restriction
