This sounds like a heat build up in the TV set if not ventilated properly it causes the shading effect on the screen coating causing the dark area eventually it takes over the whole screen
The tv lamp was replaced when? The tv on about 4 or 5 hours a day right? The lamp was replaced about a year or a year an a half ago?The projection lamp is dead, the life span is over.Must replaced with a new lamp.
I had the same issue. I am going to replace my scan buffer boards. The upper half of mine works but the lower half is black so I would replace the lower Scan buffer board but in case of future issues I have ordered both upper and lower for $44.
The scan buffer boards are fairly simple to locate. Open up back of tv there are two biffer boards identical. The item or product code on them contain letters either SU or SD (Scan up and Scan down)Look up tv parts and item code you will find a place to order or just get the 1 800 number from tv manufacturer.
I had the same issue happen to my vizio lcd just this weekend. Everyone is telling me is a bulb or backlight or something. It would explain the loud pop and no picture, but I'm not getting sound either so I'm not sure what exactly happened. Only after about 2 years too. I'm trying to find parts to just fix it myself.
hey hello, you have a bad buffer board. some tvs have them on the sides and another tvs have top and bottom of the screen.it should not cost more than $150.00 for the board. i think that's too much.a tech will determine easy and fast the one that is bad. that is a fast repair good luck
Not sure I understand the half of the tv and half of the dvd player. Are you saying about mid way of your set is cut off and like the bottom half you have a picture and the top no picture? I can explain the dot, first you can open back of set and maybe take off hole back bezel. Get where you can put your head down in front of C R T's (tubes) and look down in them and see if you see the same thing in one or all three of the tubes. If so this explain the dot. The half problem sounds like vertical is missing. Not sure yet! Need feed back
