I have an LCD flat screen tv. I just bought the tv this past November of 2009. The problem probably started about mid-March. The tv will be on for about 2 or 3 hours and then the screen will go black but the sound is still on. The picture stays black, but once it is turned off and then turned back on- the picture comes back. It hapens at different times. Last night, I watched a dvd and it went black after about an hour and a half, then once we turned it back on- the screen went black again after 10 minutes. Once I turned it off again, I let it stay off for about 3-5 minutes and then the picture stayed on longer once I turned it back on. Also, if I press menu when the screen goes black- it won't show anything. Please help!
This unit should still be under warranty and should be taken in for warranty service. Any attempt to access the interior will void the warranty. It is important that a complete description of the problem like you entered here be taken along when you bring the set in for service. This will insure that the servicer be able to reproduce the problem and resolve it.
From your description (and as a servicer), I would be looking for a component that is heat sensitive. These types of problems are fairly easy to locate and resolve.
Please take this in for warranty service and update this when you find out the details.
