Hi,
By trying to start do you mean the unit hums then clicks followed by a pause for a few minutes then repeats the process until it finally starts?
If so, this is an indication of a sealed system problem.
-It could be a restriction in one of the refrigerant lines causing a very slow equalization of pressures in-between cycles. If the unit is pulling good moisture from the air when it does run then this would not be the problem
-The compressor is weak and hard to start, this is more likely the cause, if it is not under warranty the cost of repairs would out typically out weight the value, as it is about a $300.00 repair to replace a compressor on a dehumidifier.
Let me know if you have questions.
Hi,
Thank you for the clarification. Yes you are on the right track, the humidistat internal bi-metal is most likely weak casing the contacts to make intermittently on their own, but when you apply a heavy load (your wet cloth) the contacts move and make just fine. So in other words ignore the part about the start device on the compressor and replace the humidistat. I will see if I can find a part number or supplier that carries those. Are there any numbers on the humdistat itself?
Hi again,
I think I have located the parts breakdown, and the part number. It appears to be 162615 per this diagram.
I am not having any luck finding a supplier that has the parts for this unit. All have been coming back as NLA (no longer available).
There are a couple avenues to try.
-Contact LG directly at (800) 243-0000, they may know who carries parts for this model (LG owns Goldstar)
-The company that seems to have the most parts overall for Goldstar is Appliance Factory Parts, their phone number is (800) 955-7075
-Check your local yellow pages for appliance parts, call someone local and see if they can special order one

It actually startas for a second then stops and tries again! If I hold a wet cloth on the humidistat it stars right away. could that control be the problem?
The present control has an ink no. - looks like 100k -next char smeared out!
I think I'd like try the 162615.
WHAT DO i need to do?
Thanks
