MINUS FORTY DEGREES IS TOO EXTREME FOR A FOOD FREEZER. IF YOU ARE GOING TO USE IT FOR SOMETHING ELSE, YOU WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE CONTROL WITH SOMETHING ELSE. MOST STANDARD FREEZER CONTROLS ARE DESIGNED FOR TEMPS BETWEEN -10 AND +10 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.

Locate the the thermostat - usually located in the fresh food compartment (if a refrigerator). Make small adjustments of about 1/8 of the dial's travel at a time - and check the change after 24 hours. Be sure to check both the freezer AND fresh food compartment to prevent temperature from dropping to low for fresh food. Best results are obtained by using a thermometer put in a glass of water in the fresh food area and another thermometer left in the freezer. Most manufacturers suggest a freezer temperature not greater than 0°F and fresh food 35°F to 40°F. If you need specific help with this - please include the make AND complete model number of your freezer.
Hi,
You are probably right that it is always running. This is because the thermostat/sensor has gone bad. The fridge adjusts by a door that allows air to come from the freezer to the fridge side. Therefore this will still work...
You will need to replace or have the thermostat replaced....
Check the vents in the fridge side and close a little if you can. On the freezer side just for good measure>>>>
Is your circulating fan working?
Sometimes they stick and need a shot of WD 40 and then work
it back and forth a little until it wants to take off again. Keep me informed
and PLEASE give a Thumbs Up for the effort. The Raz Shack
There may be vents that need to be closed and or opened a little for proper adjustment.
