My modem randomly resets. After suffering from the issue of my modem unable to get through the 5 blinking lights for a week, I am now suffering another issue now. As stated above, my modem is randomly resetting on me. I tried removing power from the modem, router (Belkin Wireless G), and the PC (Windows Vista Home Edition), then putting power back after waiting a few minutes. The internet light on my router lights up for about thirty seconds, which means that I am getting connected for that small amount of time. However, the light goes away and I'm left with no internet. When I get a 'stable' connection, I go through this problem as well. The internet would be working fine and then, poof, the internet becomes monstrously slow and I lose connection. I do notice that the Activity and PC Link lights aren't 'blinking' like they should be when they are functioning. The Activity light, which I assume indicates the amount of packets I am sending and receiving, should be blinking really brightly, instead of dimly and slowly, sort of almost at an 'off-state.' The PC Link light, on the other hand, is almost at an 'On-State.' Is this a problem with my modem? My ISP Provider?
Either the modem is going out or its a problem with your internet provider. before calling to complain to the internet provider. run down to your local walmart or electronics store and pickup a modern if you have the same issue its your internet provider.
i delt with a modem that was causing a similar issue. the problem ended up being the modem was running hot. i modified the case and added an external fan and the problem went away.
hope this helps. good luck

Check to see if there's a reset button on it somewhere, and reset it, if you can. It sounds like a heat problem, since it's been getting worse and worse. Not much you can do in this case except have it repaired, or buy a new one. Get an estimate first, though, often it's better to buy a new one than pay as much or more to fix the broken one.

Hi,
It can be an issue with the modem or with the line. When the line drops the link then the modem shows only two lights. And, when you power cycle the modem (unplug and replug it) it establish the session again with the comcast.
So, i'll suggest you to get the line checked first and if comcast finds that line is working fine then get the modem replaced.
