Bought a new vector maxxsst 1200 watt inverter

Bought a new vector maxxsst 1200 watt inverter several years ago to use during power outages. This past weekend took it out of the box hooked up a small color tv and digital converter. Ran for over 1 hour and quit. The light is green the fuses all look good but no power. Read the trouble shooting guide. The fan never came on and the power light never came on. Any ideas. I am sure the waranty period is over but do I repair (where?) or replace. First time I ever took it out of the box. My fault for not checking it out during the first two years.

Inverter run on batteries sir, and if these batteries are not charged, the run time {the number of hours it will work} reduces.
S0, you will need to connect the inverter to a power source.Theses will allow your batteries to be charged and enable it to run for a long period of time.
Make sure your batteries are still OK.i.e working properly

Do I need to put a inline fuse or does the vector sst 1200 have a fuse or breaker in it

It probably does, but an in-line fuse is still the safest way to go, connected as close as possible to the voltage source as possible. The internal overcurrent protection device (aka, fuse or breaker) in the inverter will prevent the DEVICE from melting if it malfunctions. An in-line fuse will protect EVERYTHING if the WIRING malfunctions.

With the vector 2000 watt converter do you need to run 2 batterys.

well unless you bought the 24 volt unit no one battery will run the unit, according to black and decker this unit is not being made, did you buy it new or at a yard sale?
one way to tell is look on bottom of unit, it will tell you if it is 24 or 12 volt model.

I have a vector 3000 watt inveter red fault light is on, wont power a 6.5 amp fuel pump

Check that ground is correctly connected. If nuetral is provided, ensure it too is connected. Your total load is 780 watts. Check power in and ground out of the supply side. There may be a fuse in the inverter on the output side also, replace if necessary. If fault light does not go out after these checks, you will need to contact Black and Decker who manufactures the vector series now.

The fan on my 1200 watt inverter does not start when turned on.

No. the fan is to remove heat(obviously) If there is a small or no load on the inverter the fan wont come on(no heat to get rid of)..........this is so a lightly loaded inverter wont kill your batteries as fast.If you load it up(power something big or power several things at once) the fan should start after a few minutes
hope this helps.Good Luck!
