There is now an electrical smell

I tried your suggestion re. manual filling with water. This did not work.
There is now an electricial smell. I have stopped the machine and turned off the main switch. I think this could be a big problem.
Many thanks for your help.

Can't see what your original problem was but the electrical smell could be the power connection in the junction box in the bottom of the dishwasher. I have had several burn the wires here.
Also, not sure of the age of d'washer. some of the older ones had an issue where the wires come up into the door. look at the harness where it goes thru the bottom of the door.

There is a strong horrible smell when the machine is filling at the beginning of a wash cycle

Hello,
The water enters the machine through a electric solenoid operated valve. If it smells bad only when it is filling, and not afterward, I'd start there.
To figure out if which one it is, start filling with cold water only. If no smell, then use hot water only. Whichever water temp causes the smell, then that could be the solenoid valve ( or the circuit controlling the valve) causing the smell.

Partner put diesel in the water inlet. How do I fix this please.

Hope you did not put too much Derv into the water tank, you will need to remove the tank & the inlet pipe clean it all out with hot plenty of soapy water until you got rid of the smell & any black marks in the fill pipe. I hope you can get rid of the smell & use everything again, otherwise you'll need to buy everything new again & fit it. If your able if not you will need to take to service centre! but try what I have suggested you can't lose anything by trying. Cheers, Malcolm Campbell.

Electrical Burning smell when agitating, trips breaker.

Send your complete model number, just to make sure we are working on same washer.
First check the lid latch switch by unplugging washer first and remove the font panel. Look up to where the switch is mounted. I am not positive that is your [problem but know there has been many problem with that switch. It will begin to melt ad cause the power to motor to be lost in a bad connection.

Kenmore Washer Won't Drain

yes, check the drain, could be clogged, or check the water pump assembly as well, the clothe could be stuck in the impeller.

the burning smell could be coming from a separate electric water pump and it can not turn that is why it is burning already.

Washer hums on rinse cycle

It sounds as if you are using WARM water for the wash cycle since your complaint begins with the rinse cycle. The rinse cycle generally uses COLD water, so I must deduce that your washer is not filling up for the rinse cycle. The humming sound is likely coming from the fill valve being starved for cold water.
Investigate your cold water supply to the washer and if you have good supply, you may want to replace the fill valve.
