What does the load sensor in my GE top load washer

I have a GE Profile WPRB9110DOWW top load washer. My wife ran a load on super and we got water on the floor. I opened up the washer and ran a small load and watched for leaks at all the hoses etc. but no leaks/drips were discovered. I did notice that when we ran the test load it was set at small load but the drum filled half full of water. My thought is that the tank is filling too much. I'm wondering what controls the water level for different load sizes, my question is what does the load sensor in my GE top load washer do?

SOURCE: GE WJRR4170 washer comes out of overflow tube on super load

I have a 2005 model GE washer that would overfill only on SUPER size load. After looking around on the web, then inside the machine, I checked the tube from the tub to the switch, no problem there. Then I found an adjustment screw on the load size selector / pressure switch (all one piece). I moved it one turn clockwise, then ran a test cycle. I got lucky on the first try... no more overflow, the water comes up just above the top holes in the tub. I hope this will help others.

GE Profile top load washer made loud buzz/screech noise. Clothes are coming out with dirt, cat hair, fuzz, etc even after washing twice. And now hot/warm water isn't working.

When you took the hot water hose off, did you check the little gauze strainer inside where the hose screws? That black in the water is iron and scale from the hot tank. See the video I added.

Buzzing could be the motor or controller knob, but if its' running, don't worry.

Screeching is normally belt slip. You can get a can of belt conditioner which makes it supple and grippy.

A GE washer making noise that sounds like squealing likely has a damaged drive belt. This rubber belt is suspended on a pulley, connecting the tub to the drive motor or transmission in front and top load washers. Wear and tear can cause the belt to loosen or fray, resulting in a squealing sound.

Dark particles all over clothes once washed. I cleaned the washer, ran a tide washer cleaner through, checked and cleaned the screen filters that hot and cold hoses pump water through. Is there anything...

sounds like you may need to check your hot water heater for deterioration. since you have done all that you need to check your water supply. a water heater can deteriorate on the inside for a time before you will notice it. good luck

Washer doesnt stop filling up with water

There is either something clogging the air tube to the water level sensor or the water level sensor itself is bad. If you need help accessing the air tube or water level sensor feel free to ask.

Leaking from under the washer

there are 2 metal clips between the top and front panel. you can use a putty knife to unlatch these clips and the front will come off, then you can look inside to see where the water is coming from.

Water will not shut off in washing machine

Check to load size selector switch, sounds like tube came off of it. The tube goes from switch to bottom of tube, tells machine what size load and when to turn off water.

GE WJRR4170 washer comes out of overflow tube on super load. It does not on Large load size. I have the front off and can see a large difference in water level from large to super size. Is this adjustable?

The water diverter could be plugged. or the diverters solinoid has gone bad on the hotwater side. It is located on the diverter itself.
