Car shots down within 18 minutes of it running, fan does not seem to be running. It's a Saturn L-series 2001, drove it all the way to S. Carolina from Ohio with no problem. Yesterday I was driving to the Marine base and within 18 - 20 minutes the car just shot down, there was no studering or anything it just shot off completely after it cooled down it would start again. The mechanic that looked at it first said it was the fuel pump, fixed that, that wasn't it, the car shot down again, then he fixed the fuel filter, that wasn't it, then the MAF was cleaned, that wasn't it either. We watched it today and the fan didn't come on at all before the car shot its self off again. How can this be fixed, need to get home to Ohio.

It may be the coil pack when they go bad they get hot and stop firing when they cool off it will crank again until it gets hot again.

It may be the CRANK SENSOR ,i had a car one time,it started fine, and drove fine one day i drove it about15 miles, stopped ,got back in it, started it, drove about 5 miles ,and cuts of with a little hesitation,it cranks but does not run, i sit there for about 20 minutes, crank it, it starts back ,i drive it back another 15 miles ,and runs great ** the crank sensor gives the signal to the ECM if the ECM ,never get that signal ,it does n't know to crank the car,or what cylinder to start with, check with your saturn ealer ,and get a second opinon

I have a 2001 Saturn L300, when the engine gets hot but not overheating and I stop my car dies. takes about twenty minutes and will restart. I can go about ten blocks and it starts all over.

Check the electric fans and see if the are coming on. If not check fuses and relays. It goes as far as the ECM which controls the fans.

My 2001 Saturn l200 has a loud knocking sound when my fan for heat is on, any ideas?

The fan motor which is lodged in a squirrel cage type of box is the culprit, the bearings are probably shot.

2004 saturn l300 heater fan motor cuts in and out cuts out for 20 minutes at a time.

Check connections to the fan speed resistor module for looseness, and the resistor module itself for heat damage or intermittency.
The resistor module is in the heater fan ducting in the fan airflow.
Alternatively, the fan motor may be faulty (or have worn brushes)- apply power directly to the motor supply connections to ensure it runs ok.

The fan is running to cool down my engine.. but its not overheating.2001 4 cylinder saturn l200

if it runs constantly the temp sensor is bad or termastat is stuck, Other wise fan runs prior to the overheating of your motor, preventing damage.

A FRIEND, SAYS HER FAN RUNS ALL THE TIME.

Changes are, your thermostat is stuck, telling the computer that the fan needs to be on --- all the time.
