DLP no image at time - no chime - lamp light blink but no image - sometime 3 front panel lights blink

I have a Samsung HL-R5678W DLP TV.
Recently the TV developed a problem.

While changing source, the TV screen will go blank although you can see the lamp on at the back.
Sometime the problem is seen from the get go, no image, the lamp is on at the back, the TV won't turn off, the front panel lights will be off, no sound, no display on the screen.
You power off and then the green lamp light indicator at the front will blink and goes off but after couple of seconds no images on screen and no channel changing, the power off won't turn the TV off, changing the source does not seem to work (no sound on any channel although there is some being broadcasted on some channel).
I have seems by 2 times the 3 front panel light blinking indicating a bulb replacement but then this error does not reproduce all the time.
Yesterday, my wife and kids watched TV all day (I told them not to turn off the TV and not to change chanel), I turned it off at night when going to bed and this morning no image again although lamp light at the back is on.
This morning I noticed that the lamp light never turn off yesterday when I powered off the TV, I unplug the TV power and power back the TV, green lamp indicator light comes up on front then goes off but no image still and no power off from remote or front panel button,

This is driving me nuts, please help, would like to know what could be wrong and how much it might cost before bringing in a tech,

Thanks
Laurent

Samsung tv model# HL-S5679W all three lights on front panel blink, no pix or sound owner's manual says lamp may be defective this is a DLP-LED. No conventional single lamp

The "lamp" in this set, I think, is called the "DLP" in the parts listings. That part is number: 4719-001960 and can be purchased from tritronicsinc.com for $249.75 plus shipping. Use the guest account to access this info.

Hope this helps,

My samsung dlp tv intermittently just shuts off...don't know if it is because of the lamp or what

When it shuts down, do the LEDS on the front blink? There are 3 of them. Standby, temp and lamp. Do any combination of the 3 blink when shuting down. I could tell you where to start just by those lights blinking.

Check your color wheel. There is a DIY guide for replacing the color wheel. Mine did the same thing yours is and my color wheel was all busted up. Unfortunately after replacing the color wheel my set continues to do the same thing, but this could mean I need to replace the ballast as well.

Samsung DLP TV time, temp and lamp lights blinking... won't turn

Les,
I'm not a TV repair guy but my owners manual states that when all three LED's or lights on the front of the TV are flashing, that the lamp needs to be replaced. Might want to look into this. Good luck!

Samsung 56" shuts off after 5 or 10 seconds see a checker board image before shutoff

When the set shuts down you need to see what lights are blinking. For example: Timer/ Temp/ lamp on the front panel. You should also count the number of times they blink and the sequence. Most DLP`s give an error code alerting the technician to check the balast, lamp, or fan etc. for malfunctions. Unfortunately I can not tell you exactly what is wrong given the current information. Howrver, the last Samsung I repaired for shutting down had a bad light engine.
