No brightness
Make sure its not in hibernation,check brightness with darken and brighten buttons,does backlight work.Try hooking up external monitor and see if you get video.Other problems could be drivers.bad inverter card,LCD cable,LCD display,system board.

I HAVE CHANGED TWO LCD'S W/ NEW INVERTERS , AND STILL CAN'T SEE SCREEN , BRIGHTNESS ADJUST MENT BAR MOVES BUT BRIGHTNESS STAYS THE SAME .......... ANY IDEAS ON THIS PROBLEM ???????
When the system is turned on, after the initial startup, the screen goes black, (one can see images in the background but not clear enough to use the mouse and cursor). Have attempted to reboot in a safe mode, but to no avail. Once the Dell Insignia appears and the Windows startup ends, the screen goes black.

went to an external monitor ,does the same
staets up and goes to a black ,blotchy screen
