The other unit needs a wireless adapter to talk to the router wirelessly

make sure that the wireless function is turned on in the router software ,

you need to enter an IP address in the internet explorer to get into the router, (this should be in the manual or printed on the base of the unit).

you will need to enter a user name and password, (read the manual for these), sometimes, admin admin ,or admin password)

if you used a security key, make sure it is in the wireless software, of the wireless pc/laptop

good luck
Terry

Can not connect to the internet yet house mates can.

If you cant see any pages, how do you know you are connected ? Is it because of your IM working or are you pinging any website ? I would suggest you to disable any firewalls that you may have or try any alternate web browser.
Thanks

Error 51330 on nintendo wii siemens gigaset se587 wlan used.

hi

i have just solved this problem on the SE 587, hope it works for you.

1) in internet explorer type 192.168.1.1, which should bring up your router settings - then select "wireless" and then "basic wireless settings" - under "auto channel" set it to "disable" and the set "wireless channel" to "1" , then "save settings" - my pc briefly went offline and quickly came back.

2) when setting up the connection on the wii you need the code from the bottom of the router - make sure you have "caps lock" ON on the wii when you set up.

3) now everything works perfectly on the wii - you dont even need the pc on! just the router.

good luck, IAN.

Short operating range of wireless router

Hello Peter. I think you may have pinned down the problem within your post. British brick walls can be very solid - and thick - which may well be enough to degrade or block your wireless signal.

The first thing I would try is to move the router to as open and central a position as you can, and see if that helps. Adding a wireless LAN antenna to your router can also help boost a weak signal a little (these just replace an existing antenna on the router).

However, other options you may want to investigate include:

1) using a wireless repeater to boost the signal from your router;
2) a powerline networking system, such as Homeplug ;
3) installing a new router with a more powerful range

..or indeed, abandoning wireless altogether and using a wired connection!

I hope this helps you explore some options, and find a solution.

I just recieved my Siemens Gigaset SE587 WLAN dsl router and i set it up but the only light coming on is the power light,is the router faulty or damaged?

Are all the cables connected correctly?
Are the DSL settings in?

If it's only the power light, and no WLAN, LAN, DSL or Internet lights on, it sounds like it may be faulty. Is it brand new or second hand?
