No water water not coming from door

  • jamesmullen Apr 13, 2008

I have a hotpoint fridge model HSS25GFPHWW. The ice maker/dispenser works, but the water dispenser quit a couple of months ago. I have good water supply & pressure to the appliance. Could the controlling electronics (mother board) be "half dead"?? If so, how much are new ones??

Door water dispenser not working

It may be the water line in the door is frozen. I have come across this several times. Check to see if the water is coming to the door by disconnecting the quick connector to the door behind the grill at the base of the refrigerator. If water comes out of the tube there then you will have to defrost the freezer door by leaving the door open for a coule hours.

New water filter, water coming out of door, but not coming through filter

If water is coming out of the door, then it is passing through the filter successfully. It is possible that you received a faulty filter if the door water does not seem filtered. For new filters, visit https://www.freshwatersystems.com/s-2-replacement-water-filters.aspx.

No water will come out of the door

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig . GE has a dispensor heater pt. # WR41X10173 to stop this freezing and it comes with instructions .

You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws. Covering the opening with a blanket will prevent the loss of cold in the freezer.
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad. GE makes a heater that will prevent this from happing again. The part number for this heater is WR49X10173.

Water in door is not coming out very much intermiient

There is a mesh screen filter in the water supply line where it connects to the water inlet valve on the back of the unit. You can disconnect the line coming out of the valve and try the dispenser to see if it comes out normal. You can disconnect it at the bottom of the freezer door to see if it comes out normal there. If it does the water could be freezing in the door. Leave the door open till it thaws out. Cover the freezer with a blanket to prevent loosing too much cold air.
If you have a water filter it could need changing.

Water in door suddly quite. have replaced the water filter but still notthing

If you can't hear the solenoid on the water inlet valve(it's on the back where the water supply hooks up) when you try the water then the water switch on the dispenser is at fault.

If you do hear it Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does, leave the door open till it thaws.

If it doesn't come out there disconnect it at the water inlet valve and see if it comes out there.

Water in door too slow coming out

A strainer before the inlet valve can get stopped up restricting flow. It's on the back where the water supply connects.

You have two points where you can check the dispenser water. At the rear where the water supply comes in is the water inlet valve. If you disconnect the dispenser water line and then see how fast the water comes out when you try the dispenser. If it's slow here there is a valve our water supply problem. If it's normal, disconnect it at the bottom of the freezer door and try again. If it's normal here it may be frozen in the door. If this is the case open the door till it thaws. A blanket over the opening will prevent thawing of all the food.
