No, you do not need to replace the bulb. Before doing so, check the capacitors. Most of them are Chinese made, therefore they bulge out. 1st, take your back plate off, inspect them for any bulging, if present, remove the whole board and take it to an electrician which in turn will remove the bad ones and re-solder the new ones on. I know this, because my TV stopped working while I was deployed. After doing the research myself, I got it to work. It's been over 5 years since it's last issue.
