How to breakdown the age of your Whirlpool Appliance via the Serial Number:

• 1st Alphabetical character: The Manufacturing Division Code
• 2nd Alphabetical Character: The Year Manufactured (See table I provided Below)
• 1st and 2nd numerical characters (digits): The week out of the year that the product was manufactured.
• 3rd-7th numerical characters (digits): Order # this specific product was during that week out of the year.

**FOR EXAMPLE: the serial number of a Kenmore Dryer is as follows: MB1402320 which indicates that by looking at the charts; it was built in the 14th week of the year 1992.

He may be right, LG is used to be called GOLD STAR, which makes junky electronic products, they changed the name to make it sounds better.

lift your seat and look at the label that you got your model number from. to the right of the model number is the serial number. the first six digits of the serial number is the date your tractor was made - for example: serial no. 060802D002756 would make the unit made June 8, 2002

Correct Serial Would be on the box it came in and should be on you recpeit from Cicuit Cit.. Circuit would be able to get th S/N if it not on the recpit

Sounds like you're having a problem with your main board assembly. The main board is what processes all your audio/video signals. So if it's not scanning DTV you've probably got a bad card. Call LG's customer support line at 1-800-243-0000 and have them schedule you a service call. Request a DMST if there's one available in your area as they actually work for the factory. Otherwise you may get an ASC(authorized service center) which can be less than reliable at times when it comes to customer support and satisfaction. 

Remember to have your proof of purchase handy as well as the full model and serial number. And by model number, I don't just mean 42LG30. On the side or back of the unit there will be a manufacturer's code. The first part is indeed the model#. However, it will appear something along these lines:
42LG30-UA.AUSRMJR or something similar to that. 

Have that ready definately. Any tech worth their salt will call you a few days beforehand to try to get that data so they can order boards before coming out there, saving them, and you, an extra trip when they have to come and order boards. Without that extended manufacturer's code, LG techs have a hard time with a lot of models trying to order parts as different revision codes and such use slightly different circuit boards. 

I received no help..it was a wasted 2 hrs trying to understand the
technicians....I was promised that they could help me and the fee would be waived if
they couldn't....I have contested the amount with MC credit and explained that
I received no service. Don't know if I will purchase or recommend any
Linksys products after this awful experience. I wouldn't buy any program that asks for money up front and then doesn't deliver.....bad company and questionable value
